666
The Mark of The Beast

We all have a nodding aquaintance with the sigil 666 – The Mark of The Beast of Revelations. Some attribute this to the mark of Satan or Mammon.

“ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon.”

—Matthew 6:19-21,24

I would not be the first to also attribute 666 – The Mark of The Beast to The Bears and Bulls of Wall Street, where each trades from a numbered accounted and lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, envy, and pride are venerated.

This is an old 2002 snap of Bunky.

Bear 2008

In conjunction with 666 there is an associate sigil, 777. There are a multitude of answers to the question of the significance of 777. The number 7 can be associated with the completion of a task and 777 can be interpreted to stand for the completion of a task of great significance, with the implication being that one has initiated a new beginning.

On September 29, 2008 the Dow ended the day down almost exactly 777 points. The reason for the 777 point decline was Congress’s inability to pass a financial rescue package. Headlines everywhere the next day prominently displayed the number 777.

For sure, after the 2008 Bear, with all the government intervention, things will never be the same again. A new beginning has been initiated and we are all experienced the trauma of Mammon, for awhile, being fettered once again.

Trick of treat?
