Frêsh Fish - Much magic for a little fish.
Frêsh Fish is a combination of new and spirited with the added bonus being that everyone knows that fish is best fresh. The icing on the cake was that my mother’s mother, Lena, always told her and she me, that fish was brain food. So with Frêsh Fish we have spirited and new food for thought, ideas, that ain’t got no stink. I was suppose to eat fish today and did not. I hope I can be forgiven.

Yesterday was wondrous. After a straight week of getting pounded daily by darkness and wet, yesterday the Sun held reign/rain/rein, and all came out to celebrate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The magic is always in the doing. © 2009 big box industries Tuesday, May 26, 2009
"The intellectual relishes in the play of the mind for its own sake, and finds in it one of the major values in life. ![]() Intelligence finds abundant justification not in "mere" usefulness but in pure frolicsomeness and joie de vivre." © 2009 big box industries Sunday, May 24, 2009
If it is boot in (pause three beats) all the way, it is Uber. I have had a lot of Uber hitting me lately and that is just the way I like it. First I got a new Uber blue coffee pot that has the most awesome blue LED readouts. Forget puke green. If you are not doing Uber blue you might as well not even bother. To make the pot even more fragilistic, I got the Blue Max on clearance at Starbucks. I got the last one standing. ![]() As a counterpoint to Uber blue I offer the second snap of a shot I took this morning with white balance set to tungsten. I thought I could fix it with some post processing. No go. Skinny. If your snap has a blue or reddish tint to it, your white balance setting is out of whack. Best to leave white balance set to automatic. ![]() We all know the ditty – “Little birdie in the sky Why did you dodo in my eye Gee I’m glad that cows don’t fly” I asked my sister when she was about seven why she thought the poet was glad that cow’s don’t fly?” Her response was, “The milk.” ![]() © 2009 big box industries Wednesday, May 20, 2009
I have been around the sun 58 times. May 20th is my date of birth. It is only 1:16 pm and it has already been a wonderful day. ![]() Actually, my birthday celebration started yesterday. The resident hummers start showing up around May 20th. Saw a little guy late yesterday afternoon. Woke up this morning surrounded by presents wrapped in blue. Went to the park and actually did a little jogging. Bought a new grill. Got a new, uber, electric razor. Didn’t think I would like it but I do. Going to see the new Star Trek movie at 4:10 pm. After the movie it is Outback’s for a medium rare steak and a huge baked potato. Happy is good but Birthday Happy is better. All this and heaven too and I love it. © 2009 big box industries Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Fast talking, slow walking. I was out early yesterday morning and spotted Mordecai making his annual trek to Mecca. ![]() Over the years I have spotted Mordecai a couple of times lumbering across the backyard to a place only he knows. I once put watermelon in his path and he really enjoyed that. This time I tried apple bits. Although Mort was enticed by the sweet scent, the cut apple was too hard. Such is the life of a turtle named Mordecai. It is right there in his face and he can’t handle it. © big box industries Friday, May 01, 2009
I am 66 pages into "Michelangelo and The Pope’s Ceiling" – Russ King (2003). Not a great read but informative. Things of interest – 1. Mike’s complete moniker is Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarrati Simoni. I am not sure what Michelangelo’s last name was because his father’s name was Lodovico di Leonardo di Buonarroti di Simoni. Research indicates that the family name was Buonarrati. “Her name was Magil and she called herself Lil But everyone knew her as Nancy.” – Rocky Raccoon -The Beatles (1968). “In the room the women come and go Talking of Michelangelo.” – The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock – T.S. (Thomas Stearns) Elliot (1917). 2. Michelangelo was not much of a painter when he accepted the commission to do part of the fresco on the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel. Prior to the ceiling Mike had primarily devoted his energy to sculpturing – Think David. 3. Frescoing is the most difficult medium to paint in. Paint is applied to wet plaster. The artist has a very short time frame in which to work. Once the plaster is dry one can not easily make revisions. 4. Everyday that he worked on the ceiling fresco of The Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo began with prayer. Did he pray for divine guidance? No. Did he pray for inspiration? No. Did he pray that his work would be pleasing to God? No. Everyday when Michelangelo began to fresco the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel he would pray to God for a small favor. ![]() “Dear God, please do not let me knock over the paint.” © 2009 big box industries
