Click on the above to get a very interesting article, Bruce Lahn - Howard Hughes Medical Institute - University of Chicago,  12/29/2004, on research done on the evolution of the human brain.  According to this research the human brain underwent a "Big Bang" about 500,000 years ago in which a large group of genes responsible for brain function underwent what is considered to be accelerated change.

The authors of the article go out of their way to try and make these changes fit into the standard natural selection model advocated by mainstream biological theory.  However, a reading between the lines suggests that they suspect that something unorthodox happened.

I actually became aware of this research while watching Ancient Aliens.  The program suggested that at some time in the past aliens altered human genetics.

Where is What?

This shot was taken by the the ubiquitous gonzo digital photographer - Robert d Snaps.

I can't figure out how he did it?  Maybe he is using some sort of special lens.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall.

Two Places at Once

Trouble Coming Everyday

Well I'm about to get sick
From watchin' my TV
Been checkin' out the news
Until my eyeballs fail to see
I mean to say that every day
Is just another rotten mess
And when it's gonna change, my friend
Is anybody's guess

So I'm watchin' and I'm waitin'
Hopin' for the best
Even think I'll go to prayin'
Every time I hear 'em sayin'
That there's no way to delay
That trouble comin' every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin' every day

You either know who did the above or you don't.  Telling you now wouldn't help much.

This snap was taken at The National Gallery of Art - DC - by the ubiquitous gonzo digital photographer - Robert d Snaps.

Getting ready for the final surprise.

(t) ⇒ (t+1)

"David , You are stupid.. and you will will stay STUPID..
Enjoy your stupidity."

Probably just me but I found the above on a stock market forum.  I was especially enamored by the "stupid and will stay stupid".

The Plight of Lucifer

‘Twas the plight of Lucifer – the withdrawing from the fold.

Primitive man had little conception of Self – of an entity completely separate from the rest of the group.  He was the member of a family, a tribe, a clan.  Even today, in less developed cultures, the concept of village or street or family plays a large part in how an individual defines themselves.

Separation of the One from the rest, an alienation, is a modern emergence.  This withdrawal is more complete in advanced cultures because these advanced cultures have the technology to make this life style feasible.

Being alone with one’s thoughts is both a blessing and a curse.

How to Become A God for Dummies

I am on a sabbatical at present learning how to become, via the ubiquitous Dummies series, a God.

The beginning of the text, which is rather terse for Dummies, is a commentary on the doctrinal consistency and historical continuity associated with the manifestation of the divine in a corporal being. Further discourse is allocated to the proposition that monotheism, like monogamy, is very boring and at the metaphysical level very limiting. The argument is extended by the consideration that the restriction of having one and only one divine being, instantly banishes an infinity of alternatives, with further scrutiny showing this constraint to be excessive, perhaps even excessively feckless. And then there is the more traditional argument, “If you piss off the one and only one, be it God or significant other, you are (How do you say it in English, the original is in Latin?) fucked.

How to Become A God for Dummies deviates from the norm in the series by not being a straight forward cookbook of how to become a God. But to the astute, Dummies certainly dangles lots of clues.

Clue number one is that becoming a God is not an instantaneous affair. Clue number one is that becoming a God takes time. The actual trigger or phrase used in the text , and some suspect it is a double or even – a trinity, a trinity, we want a trinity – a triple entendre – is, “Lust not for results.”

Too Much Magic Bus

I lucked out taking this snap. Here we have a gentlemen fast asleep on a bench between the bathrooms at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Hundreds of people are walking back and forth but our subject is oblivious. He has succumbed to all the colors and shapes and is now fast a dreaming. Of what is his fancy, none know, and upon awakening even he will probably forget.

"...the Women come and go,
Talking of Michaelangelo."

Where the trapazoid and the rhobus rule.

Beyond the Blue Event Horizon
The Story of Squint

"Once there was a creature.  It was a female; but it was not an "it", if Descartes is to be believed, because it was aware of its own existence, and therefore it was a "she".

She had no name.  But she was marked among her fellows by a great scar from ear to nose, where the hoof of a dying prey-beast had nearly killed her.  Her eye on that side had healed with the lid pulled out of shape, and so she might be called "Squint". "

to be continued

Obiter dictum - Every now and then, one comes across a passage while reading that is exceptionally quaint and curious, unique.  The Story of Squint is such.  It is the best passage I have ever encountered of how tribal life might have been for our distant ancestors - 4 or 5 million years ago.

The Story of Squint is found in Beyond the Blue Event Horizon by Fred Pohl.  From time to time I will add to the story.  This is not the most efficient and effective to disseminate this information, but whatever.

Creating
And God made Man in his own image.

Gen 1:26. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness;
Gen. 1:27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God, created he him;

This is not to be interpreted as a physical image. It is not that God has hair on His head or hurts when He falls down or gets tired when He has been working hard.

And when I am thus I am happy. And when I am thus I am like Him.

It is when Man is creating that he is like God.

And to create One must overcome.

One must overcome the notion that One is not worthy.  That what One has to offer is no good.

One has to overcome that what is offered will be transitory.  Like sand castles on the beach, gone by morn.

And in the beginning everything was the same and then in a flash everything was different.

At the heart of all of this is A ≠ A.

Intelligence, nearness to God, is denoted by the urge to create.  Those nearest to God have an obsession to do as He does.

This Shit Sticks

Repair Extreme - Loctite rocks.  And no, I didn't glue a finger to my face like last time.

Second time I have had to fix this.

Stuck to The Cross

Addendum

Not sure what happened to the snap above.  I had it right and then The Gods intervened.

Such is my life.

I went out and did this and that to fix it.

Second time I have had to fix this.

Stuck to The Cross

It's all better now.  Let's just hope it stays this way.  In the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

It's the "ever shall be" that has me worried.

Randy Row

It happens to All.  You have (n+1) things but the one thing you "need", you can't find.

I know I have an excellent print of a Black Eastern Tiger Swallowtail that, zut alors, I can't find.

I just discovered that while the male is always yellow, the female is dimorphic, being either yellow or black.

Who gnu?

And the plot thickens.

Having my Questing Beast - The Black Queen - I thought to find something of use in T. H. White's - The Once and Future King.  There, at the beginning of Book - (Incipit Liber Secundus) - I found penned in a very familiar hand -

This was part of an old song I wrote.

The Magic Is In

My offering for this morning.  The scene is from a corner of my Study.

Into far darkness gone.

I recently got a new camera, a Nikon 3200.  The first word that comes to mind is wicked.  She’s got everything this Bad Old Wolfy could want.

I like the snap but I want to clear up a little of the clutter and do it again.

Push 1 for English and 2 for Spanish

"According to the biblical account, a united humanity of the generations following the Great Flood, speaking a single language and migrating from the east, came to the land of Shinar, where they resolved to build a city with a tower "with its top in the heavens...lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the Earth." God came down to see what they did and said: "They are one people and have one language, and nothing will be withholden from them which they purpose to do." So God said, "Come, let us go down and confound their speech." And so God scattered them upon the face of the Earth, and confused their languages, and they left off building the city, which was called Babel "because God there confounded the language of all the Earth."(Genesis 11:5-8)."
